These are some collected drawings on paper done in all media. Most were made between 1990 and 2001. In some cases very early drawings have been inserted.

Mostly the drawings in these books are organized chronologically. In this sense they will act as a kind of diary. Sometimes, they are grouped in ideas where a theme that I have worked on in the past, I have gone back to over again.

This, the first book in a series, deals with so-called ‘abstract’ drawings. Although called ‘abstract’, there is also some other psychic or emotional reference that I felt deserved a book of its own: I have only called this abstract for lack of another word. And I chose to make it the first book because it deals with the bare essentials; the nuts and bolts.

The drawings in this book have been grouped around the theme of creation. They can be seen on two levels; procreation and birth as well as a simple chart of how the of the idea itself is born. Exploration of these themes demands the need for a visual language and so on another level these drawings relate to aesthetic questions. Later in the other books, the drawings function more simply as notes of things I have actually seen or imagined.

The video integrates the separate panels into live action images that Scott has videoed on numerous visits to the 'Old Country'. First heard is the droning and buzzing of helicopters, then more pastoral scenes, church bells, old English dance music, a variety of voices, a virtual cacophany of sounds. This sound track was devised by British musician Jim Howard and is available on CD.
